Hero Worship/Hell to the Chief Interview

October 2nd, 2008 | Interviews, San Francisco Comedy

Saturday October 11, Sammy Wegent and Justin Lamb begin a four weekend run at the Purple Onion of their shows Hell to the Chief and Hero Worship. In Hell To The Chief, Wegent hilariously points out why the American public has never been and will never be completely satisfied with the person running the country. Lamb’s Hero Worship is about super heroes and their effect on society. The two recently sat down to talk with each other about their shows for SFStandup.com.

SAMMY: When and how did you get obsessed with superheroes?

JUSTIN : In the womb. My mother would make a puree of Avengers issues and wash down her prenatal vitamins with it. Why AREN’T you obsessed with superheroes?

SAMMY: Because I’m too busy being obsessed with sports and pornography. If you were a superhero, what would your super power be?

JUSTIN: Telekinesis. Because then you can move things with your mind AND fly. It’s a good two for one power. Kind of like that peanut butter and jelly hybrid stuff they sell. If you were running for President, what would your campaign’s theme song be?

SAMMY: O.P.P. by Naughty By Nature.

JUSTIN: Why?

SAMMY: Well, it stands for “Other People’s Pussy” which seems to be a key objective of politicians and I think it’s a pretty underrated dance anthem. In real life, who is your arch-nemesis?

JUSTIN: Anyone who rides an elevator to the second floor. Or wet jeans.

SAMMY: What if someone rides to the second floor wearing wet jeans? Then what happens?

JUSTIN: Something on the same scale of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Who’s your favorite president of all time and why?

SAMMY: President Thomas “Tug” Benson from Hot Shots! Part Deux. Lloyd Bridges is the shit. Who is the worst superhero ever and why?

JUSTIN: Superman. What can’t that guy do? He’s so boring. When people leave your show, what’s the one thing you want them to really take with them?

SAMMY: Me. Seriously, I have nowhere else to go after this show is over. Since I’m your trusty side kick and you’re my running mate, why aren’t WE running for the White House and saving the planet?

JUSTIN: Because I’m too busy being obsessed with superheroes. That and your whole thing with porn and sports.

SAMMY: Yeah, good point.

Hell to the Chief and Hero Worship run every Saturday from October 11th through November 1st. Tickets are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/41940.
