Wednesday: SF Comedy Competition Finals @ The Purple Onion
September 29th, 2008 | San Francisco ComedyThis Wednesday, the legendary Purple Onion hosts the 33rd Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition, one of the oldest and most prestigious comedy competitions in the country. This will be night 2 of the finals, and the only finals show that will be held in the city. It is also a rare opportunity to see the competition in such an intimate setting as the Purple Onion- the majority of the shows take place in large theaters in and around the Bay Area.
The SF Competition has been credited with discovering the likes of Robin Williams, Dana Carvey and Ellen DeGeneres. Other past competitors include Patton Oswalt, Sinbad, Steven Wright, Dane Cook, and Roseanne Barr.
This year’s 5 finalists are:
Tyler Boeh (Boston), Derick Lengwenus (Wyoming), Leif Skyving (Idaho), Brent Weinbach (San Francisco), and Steve White (Los Angeles).
