SPF7 enters YouTube’s Sketchies contest

March 3rd, 2008 | San Francisco Comedy

San Francisco comedy group SPF7 has submitted an entry to Sketchies2, YouTube’s comedy short competition. The grand prize is $25,000 and $15,000 in film-making gear. Each video must incorporate a road trip and a musical instrument.

Watch SPF7’s entry, The Accordion Killer:

SPF7’s Justin Lamb (the driver of the broken-down car) answers a few questions for us:

SF Whose idea was The Accordion Killer?

We were basically starting from scratch Saturday morning with the guidelines of an instrument and a road trip. Sammy had the idea of a serial killer with an accordion, and Chris and I built on that with him being really bad at it and not intimidating at all. The dialogue was improvised and just came out of finding the character mostly.

SF What will you do with the $25,000 if you win?

Pay off the last of Bob’s sex change operation bills.

SF Are you afraid this video may inspire a real serial killer with an accordion?

It’s always been our dream to inspire people in whatever way possible. Personally, I would be more worried about inspiring people to grow beards.
