John Mulaney at the Punchline this week
February 21st, 2008 | San Francisco Comedy
New York’s John Mulaney is co-headlining at the Punchline Comedy Club this week, and word on the street is this guy is worth checking out.
Jesse over at The Sound of Young America writes, “I’d compare him maybe to Dana Gould, another comic who blends the worlds of traditional club comedy and alternative stuff. John takes well-grounded premises and spins them out until they’re surprisingly silly, but never self-indulgent.”
If John wrote his own Wikipedia page, then he does indeed sound pretty funny. Check out these gems:
“In July 2004, Mulaney was tried for assaulting his neighbor, Elizabeth Radout, with a pastry puff.”
“Mulaney has been romantically linked to RuPaul, George Michael, and Jessica Simpson.”
“Is currently a co-defendant in the trial of O.J. Simpson for the alleged armed robbery of memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas, Nevada.”
“Was once denied boarding on a British Airways flight to London because he refused to change out of the “Osama is my bitch” t-shirt he was wearing.”
In an interview yesterday with Cal’s Daily Californian, Mulaney says, “People should come out to our shows because Amy [Schumer] and I are very funny and nice-looking, and we will take mobile phone pictures afterwards. Also, when else can you see me talk about my childhood drinking in front of a colorful mural of San Francisco?”
I’m unclear on whether he will be talking about his childhood drinking, or if he will be drinking while talking about his childhood (or maybe both), but either way, it sounds like a good time.
