Do you have a wacky thing you do?

Last Comic Standing is beginning to cast for their 6th season and is holding auditions at Cobb’s Comedy Club on February 29th at 9am.
This is from a new Craigslist ad:
——————————————–
“We are casting Last Comic Standing and we need more visual comedy.
Casting Funny Wacky people. We want people who are going to make us laugh. Do you have a wacky thing you do? Are you funny? Are you wacky? We are casting Last Comic Standing and we need more visual comedy.
Do you have a costume? Do you juggle? Do you have props or a special act? How are you going to make us laugh?”
——————————————–
If someone tells you he is a comedian and you ask, “Do you have a wacky thing you do?” or “Do you have a costume?”, see how seriously he takes you.
Any chance to be on primetime television is great for a performer, and I am glad I was on the last season of the show, but come on- “do you have a wacky thing you do?” That’s really how they are casting it? How do they cast American Idol? “Do you have a crush on Paula Abdul?” How do they cast The Price Is Right? “Do household appliances make you GO CRAZY?”
This is a good reason why I got on the show- they mostly have the show cast already, so the line-up auditions are mainly for finding wacky people with a “special act” that will be funny or interesting to show for 30 seconds. My friends who auditioned and did more normal bits had their auditions cut off very quickly. I did something a little weird and got on the show.
So before you drive 7 hours to sleep out on the sidewalk with your best 2 minutes, read over that Craigslist ad. If you don’t have one of the appointment auditions, you might want to get out your gorilla costume and do something wacky!
