Chad:

I just tried sending something and it might not have gone through. I'm trying again. My cousins in San Francisco saw your name and asked if you were related. So I looked you up on our monster family tree and saw you were -- I remember your grandfather, Shim, and don't know your dad but do know Peter Lehrman in Atlanta -- your first cousin? Then I watched you on Youtube snd saw you were good. When are you onstage next so I can tell my cousins there -- Marvin Lehrman, Abby Lehrman, Les Haber and others to go? Or LA so my son Eric and about a hundred other cousins can fill the house?

My wife recognized Klein earlier in the day at Fisherman's wharf, and we happened to see him again in an elevator at a hotel later that night. I mentioned to him my wife thinks she recognized him, and Klein very kindly introduced himself and shook our hands. With a 30 second conversation, I was left with the impression Klein was a very highly intelligent and sophisticated individual with absolutely no ego. It was very nice meeting him.

This is a great interview. I love the references to Laurel and Hardy & Marx Brothers. Man I wish I could have seen him this weekend.

Amazing interview--Klein's assessment of the pendulum swing from late 60s stand-up innovation to our current morass of profanity without poignancy is spot on. Especially pleased to see him harp on not only the pretenders to Lenny Bruce's throne, but the pretenders to Richard Pryor's as well.
